What's hiding in our carpets?

Now almost all of us vacuum our carpets at least once maybe twice a week and maybe shampoo our own carpets maybe once every couple years and think that our carpets are cleaned.  So, let’s take a deep look as to what is hiding in our carpets.

The first and most obvious thing we will find is dust, now dust is a composition of a lot of things like dirt, fabric fibers and soil that’s tracked in on the bottom of our shoes and last but not least tiny airborne particles that get kicked up into as we walk across our carpets.

Our next culprit is human skin cells.  Did you know on average that shed millions of dead skin cells a day and a good portion of that ends up in your carpet fibers, attracting other life forms because those skin cells act as food to dust mites and other microscopic organisms.

You are probably sitting there wondering well what else is hiding in my carpet, there is pet hair and dander, while pet hair is easy to spot the dander is small and can linger longer in your carpet and is a common allergen.

As you can see your carpet can harbor a variety of things that you can and can’t see with the naked eye.

Should you be worried.  Not really.  Your carpets are designed to trap all of this and keep it out of the air you breathe, the key to all of this is routine maintenance, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, and removing shoes can slow down the buildup over time.

Your carpet is more than just a floor covering, it’s also a snapshot of your daily life.

The next time you walk across your carpet remember keeping it clean isn’t just about perfection it’s about balance.

When was the last time you gave your carpets a Deep clean?
